Preserving The Past – Restoration of Ashby Street Theater
Opening in 1934, the 300-seat Ashby Street Theatre was one of Atlanta’s first theaters to serve the African American community. Affectionally referred to as “The Ashby”, it is an emblem of a time when Black Atlantans had a parallel economy of Black-owned businesses. Financial investments support the restoration of the Theater and the development of an ABL Black Business Hall of Fame and ABL Business Resource Center.
